Edge of the Empire: Tyche & Nemesis

S03E02- To Baccarana!
“Your pet bit me!”

Having fought their way through PIRATES, the crew were preparing to leave MADEYE STATION for BACCARANA, carrying the remaining SPICE and some SICARI novitiates, when the TYCHE was shipjacked!

Reacting quickly, the crew captured the ARCONA shipjacker.

Who is the ARCONA working for? How did they know about the spice? And what will the crew do with their prisoner?

  • Gavyn re-establishes control over the Tyche and lands the ship, while Renaldo and Zed lock the Arcona shipjacker in an empty cabin.
    • As they do so, Su’shi surreptitiously poisons the Arcona.
  • As the Tyche lands, the Arkhat arrives in the bay, along with a Sicari initiate (a blue Nikto) and four Sicari novices – including Fre’ed, the young Aqualish novice. Renaldo and Zed go to meet the passengers.
    • The Arkhat is very angry at the violence – Zed explains the situation.
    • The Arkhat accepts the explanation, but suggests the crew leave Madeye station immediately.
  • The Sicari explain they only need some space in the hold to put down their bed rolls and a screen for privacy.
    • Renaldo ushers them aboard and gets the them set up in the lower hold.
    • Su’shi donates a large fur rug made of a number of pelts stitched together to use as a privacy screen.
  • The Tyche leaves Madeye station.
    • As it leaves, Gavyn notices that the Action VII freighter that was docked when they arrived was no longer there, and 4 silhouette 1 objects ejected from an airlock.
  • Gavyn plots the hyperspace jump to Baccarana.
    • In a brilliant display of astrogation, he shaves the trip time from 3 to 2 days, and plots an exit point deep in the Baccarana system.

Over the course of the trip…

  • The crew recover from the strain inflicted by the shipjackers booby traps.
  • Between periods of meditation in their private area, the Sicari make themselves useful, cleaning the ship from end to end and making minor repairs,
    • Su’shi spies on the meditating Sicari. He sees the Sicari dressed in green armour with elaborate breastplates sparring with their staffs.
  • Su’shi created 2 doses of a truth serum out of single dose of Glitterstim.
  • Gavyn cracks the encryption on the shipjacker’s datapad.
    • He finds a hologram message from the captain of the El Jefe:
      • The cargo is on an independent HWK-1000 freighter, not the usual freighter.
      • The HWK-1000 escaped and is headed to Madeye station.
      • A Sullustan enters the field of view and starts threatening to kill Captain Zed in increasingly gruesome and improbable ways, as revenge for the death of his brother.
  • The crew interrogate the shipjacker.
    • Over several days of chemically enhanced interrogation, Jiǎohuá reveals the following information:
      • They believe the crew to be members of the Vakat cartel, a vicious group of slavers.
      • They are a member of a pirate fleet headed by Zheng Shi, another Arcona.
      • Jiǎohuá and Zheng Shi were both held as slaves by the cartel, forced to mine Glitterstim in an unknown location, before Zheng Shi broke them out.
      • Zheng Shi’s fleet is hitting Vakat cartel shipments across the sector.
      • They were tipped off about the HWK-1000 by the captain of the El Jefe, who was tipped off by an anonymous source on Urce.
      • They were the failsafe – if the El Jefe could not capture the cargo, he was to try and steal the Tyche.
      • This was the first time the El Jefe had failed.
  • Jiǎohuá pries a panel of the wall and messes around with the wiring on the ship, but is caught by Gavyn before he can do anything.
  • The crew attempt to win Jiǎohuá over to their side.
    • While not successful, Jiǎohuá believes that the crew aren’t aware of the slave trading or members of the cartel proper.
  • The crew reach the Baccarana system
    • Thanks to Gavyn’s astrogation, the Tyche exits hyperspace near (medium range) the rings of Dounov, the large gas giant in the Baccarana system.
  • There is a large sensor contact at long range behind them (towards the edge of the system), and a similarly sized contact in front, at extreme range beyond the rings (extreme ++ from the Tyche).
    • Further scanning reveals that the inner system is broadcasting the IFF codes of the I.S.S. Invigilator, an Adz class patrol destroyer.
  • An incoming hologram message from the large contact pursuing the Tyche.
    • The Arcona introduces themselves as Zheng Shi, pirate captain of the Vengeance.
    • Zheng Shi demands that the crew immediately power down and surrender, or be blasted from the sky, before ending the message.
  • As soon as Zheng Shi’s message ends, another hologram from the Invigilator is received.
    • Commodore Kresk appears, advising that the Tyche is being pursued by a pirate vessel.
    • He advises that the Invigilator is heading to rescue them, but it will be some time to before it arrives.
    • He urges the Tyche to stay alive until the Imperial forces arrive.
  • The Vengeance launches 6 TIE-Wings and a boarding shuttle.
    • Another transmission is received, from the boarding shuttle.
    • Vinal, the Sullustan pilot, proceeds to describe how he will kill Captain Zed with his bare hands.
  • As the Tyche flees to the safety of Dounov’s rings, Gavyn releases Jiǎohuá from the cabin.
    • The crew ask Jiǎohuá to negotiate on their behalf with Zheng Shi.
  • Negotations are tense, but the crew agree to let the pirates board and take the Giltterstim.
    • Jiǎohuá will stay on board as a hostage, and the Tyche will rendezvous with the Vengeance in two days to hand over Jiǎohuá.
  • The boarding shuttle docks with the Tyche, while Gavyn goes down in the hold to tell the Sicari to keep their heads down.
    • Gavyn is surprised the armed and armoured monks.
    • He explains that they are making a scheduled handover – the Sicari appear to believe him.
  • A Gamorean and 4 pirates armed with force pikes board.
    • The crew hand over the spice.
  • As the pirates board the shuttle, Vinal stands in the airlock, swearing that he will have his vengeance.
    • Zed taunts the Sullustan who gets the last word, however, throwing a stun grenade through the closing hatch.
    • Zed successfully dives for cover, but Renaldo and Su’shi are both caught in the blast.
  • The Vengeance loops past the Tyche, revealing itself as Marauder-class corvette as the TIE-wings and the boarding shuttle enter its fighter bay.
    • Zed advises Zheng Shi of the incoming Imperial forces.
    • Zheng Shi warns the crew that they had better attend the rendezvous in two days, or Zheng Shi will hunt them down, before the Vengeance jumps to hyperspace.
  • An Imperial TIE/br boarding vessel docks with the Tyche.
    • A squad of stormtroopers board and begin to clear the vessel.
    • Commodore Kresk boards and checks that the crew is ok.
    • Zed lies, and says that the pirates tried to board, but were only able to open the hatch enough to throw a stun grenade through.
      • Kresk appears to believe this, and has medics look after Renaldo and Su’shi.
    • Gavyn persuades the Sicari to retreat behind their screen.
    • Despite being surprised by the Stormtroopers, he sticks to the line that they were only transporting passengers.
  • Commodore Kresk apologizes for not being able to stop the pirates.
    • He is furious that the pirates are praying on innocent Imperial citizens, and vows that the pirates will be brought to justice.
  • After the Imperials leave, the crew travel to Baccarana.
    • Rather than docking at the Consolidated Logistic Solutions dock where they were supposed to deliver the spice, the Tyche lands in Caer Planeta, the civil capital of Baccarana.

S03E01 - EL NARCOCORRIDO DEL TYCHE

The Barabel Enforcer SITHKA has made the crew of the TYCHE an offer they can’t refuse – carry four crates of the spice GLITTERSTIM to MADEYE STATION and BACARANA.

Before they have a chance to take off CAPTAIN ZED’S nemesis LT. BISBCOX arrives to inspect the cargo.

The crew now have a cargo hold of STORMTROOPERS, an IMPERIAL CUSTOMS OFFICER, and four crates of the most illicit substance in the EMPIRE……

  • The Tyche blasts out of Urce’s atmosphere
    • The jump point to Madeye station is at extreme range beyond the orbit of Urce’s moon.
    • Captain Zed is at the controls, bandaging a bruise above his eye.
    • Gavyn is in the co-pilots seat, scanning the system – he spots a large ship leaving Spaceport 3 behind them.
    • Su’shi and Renaldo are in their cabins.
  • The Tyche is halfway to the moon (extreme range from the moon and from Urce), when suddenly, one large and two small sensor contacts slot in behind the Tyche at short range
    • A transmission comes over the communicator….

Flashback to 20 minutes prior….

  • Lt. Bisbcox stares down into the open crate of Glitterstim, backed up by four stormtroopers.
    • Captain Zed lies on the boarding ramp where he had been knocked down by a stormtrooper.
      • His view of the hold is obscured by a stormtrooper.
    • Gavyn is in the hold, looking over Bisbcox’s shoulder.
    • Su’shi and Renaldo have just entered the hold from the upper deck.
  • The crew are in shock at the presence of the illicit spice.
    • Gavyn notices that Bisbcox and the stormtroopers are not surprised by the presence of the Glitterstim.
    • Gavyn, Su’shi, and Renaldo notice that Bisbcox is reaching for something in the crate.
    • Zed doesn’t have a clue what is going on.
  • The hands of Renaldo, Su’shi and Gavyn edge towards their weapons.
    • Zed lies on the floor oblivious, clutching his head.
  • Before the crew can act, Bisbcox pulls a small bag out of the crate.
    • Tipping a handful of high denomination credsticks into his hands, Bisbcox throws one each to the stormtroopers and pockets the rest.
    • He then moves to the ramp.
  • Realising that this is what Sithka meant when he said that the order had been cleared through customs, the crew let the Imperials leave.
    • One of the stormtroopers hits Zed on the way out.

Back in orbit…

  • A hologram of an Arcona appears.
    • It’s hard to make it in the hologram, but his eyes appear to be green, rather than the gold of a salt addict.
  • The Arcona introduces itself as Captain Sortuli and demands that the Tyche power down and prepare to be boarded.
  • As Captain Zed stalls for time, Gavyn scans the ships.
    • The larger contact is an old PB950 patrol boat.
      • Gavyn knows that PB950’s are usually armed with two side mounted ion cannon turrets, a rear mounted quad laser turret and a forward concussion missile launcher.
    • The two smaller contacts are TIE-Wing uglies – junk fighters made of Y-Wing engines bolted either side of a TIE fighter’s ball cockpit.
  • Captain Zed makes as if to comply, slowing down the Tyche and dropping between the two Uglies.
    • Su’shi and Renaldo strap into the Tyche’s turrets and open fire at the Uglies on either side of the Tyche!
  • THE CHASE IS ON!
    • Despite being caught in the PB950’s tractor beam, the Ion blasts of the shockingly fast Uglies, and a critical engine failure (brilliantly repaired by Gavyn), the Tyche dives through the debris field orbiting the moon and reaches the jump point, leaving one Ugly destroyed, the other spinning out of control and the lumbering Patrol Boat in its wake.
  • Before jumping to hyperspace, Captain Zed taunts the pirates:
    • “You will always remember today as the day you almost caught Captain Zed Syyrhak!”
    • The effect is somewhat lessened by Captain Zed’s fake moustache coming loose as he twirls it.
  • The crew jumps to Dhbansera Hrdaya Madhye Animesanetre, otherwise known as Madeye Station.
    • The jump takes about 24 hours.
    • In that time, Gavyn successfully repairs most the system strain inflicted by the Pirate’s Ion weaponry.
  • The Tyche arrives at Madeye Station, which orbits a vast blackhole.
    • The station consists of a circular ring, topped with a transparisteel dome that faces towards the black hole.
    • There is an Action VI freighter docked at one of the external docking ports.
  • They dock in one of the internal hanger bays.
    • Gavyn, Su’shi and Zed disembark. Renaldo stays aboard to guard the spice.
  • The dock is deserted.
    • Gavyn notices a camera, of the type that most docking bays have.
    • There is a shrine, with incense and an unusual symbol.
    • The crew place the recommended donation of 50 credits in the donation box.
  • The three crewmembers walk out onto the main concourse of the station. They notice that:
    • While aged and worn, the station is much cleaner than most small independent stations.
    • There is only one cantina, and no open selling of vice.
    • There are a lot of beings in green robes.
      • Many are doing good works (caring for the destitute, cleaning the station).
      • About half of the green robed beings are Nikto (of all subspecies).
  • The three crew go to the cantina.
    • While not a hive of scum and villainy, the crowd in the cantina is a bit rougher than that outside.
    • The crew order a round, and Gavyn asks the bartender if she can point them towards their contact, “Arkhat”.
    • The bartender makes it very clear that she is none too fond of the Arkhat, the leader of the Sicari (the green robed beings)
    • Apparently the Sicari have been trying to shut down the cantina, but the lease for the business won’t be up for 24 years.
    • She advises that the monastery is in the dome above the station, and can be easily reached via a central turbolift.
    • She also overcharges the crew for their drinks.
  • The crew finish their drinks and make their way to the central turbolift.
    • They are greeted by two Sicari.
    • The crew states that they are here to meet the Arkhat.
    • The Sicari let the crew enter the lift.
  • The crew ascend the lift. Upon exiting, they are awe-struck by the black hole visible through the transparisteel dome.
    • The floor of the dome is landscaped into discreet sections, each one appearing to be of a different biome (desert, mountain etc), and is scattered with prefab buildings with distinctive decorations.
      • Gavyn realises that the biomes are representative of the varied landscape of the Nikto homeworld.
    • A young robed Aqualish walks over to the crew, and leads them to the Arkhat.
  • The crew enter the desert section of the dome.
    • It is clear that the terrain is not just artificial, but artifice – every rock placed with care, and the sand carefully raked.
  • The crew approach a bunch of children sitting cross legged on the sand in front of the Arkhat, an elderly red Nikto.
    • The Arkhat is delivering a lesson on the astrophysics of the black hole. Gavyn admires both the lesson’s factual accuracy and, somewhat uncharacteristically, the Arkhat’s pedagogy.
    • On seeing the newcomers, the Arkkhat dismisses the children, some of whom are wearing the green robes of the order.
  • The Arkhat uses a long staff to stand.
    • Despite his age, he is very large and physically strong.
    • With a good-humoured twinkle in his eye, he creates a sense of fatherly solidity.
      • Su’shi does NOT like him, and hides behind Renaldo
  • The crew introduce themselves. The Arkhat confirms that he was expecting a delivery of “copper”.
    • Su’shi goes back to the ship to fetch the “copper” and Renaldo.
    • The Arkhat invites Gavyn and Zed to join him for dinner.
  • The Arkhat leads Gavyn and Zed to a canteen. Over a good wholesome meal, the Arkhat and the two crew have a discussion.
    • The Arkhat makes it clear that he knows that the “copper” is spice. He mentions that there hasn’t been a “copper” delivery for a while.
    • Zed and Gavyn try to create the impression that they have been in the “game” for a while. The Arkhat gently suggests that he’s been in the game a lot longer.
  • The Arkhat manages to steer the conversation to the crews eventual destination. The crew let slip that they are headed to Baccarana.
    • The Arkhat requests that the Tyche take 5 Sicari to Baccarana.
    • They cannot pay for the transport, however, the Arkhat states that they should go to the station’s shipyard and mention that the Arkhat sent them
  • Renaldo and Su’shi arrive with a crate of “copper.”
    • The Arkhat leads the crew to a building at the centre of the dome.
    • He opens the door – through the door, the crew can see the building has no roof.
    • The Arkhat takes the crate, carrying it with no apparent effort.
    • He politely yet firmly states that the crew are not permitted into the building.
    • The young Aqualish Sicari from earlier sees the crew out.
  • The crew go to the shipyard, a couple of landing bays around from where the Tyche is docked.
    • There are a number of mechanics in the bay, including those in grease stained Sicari robes.
    • The crew are directed to a Xexto who is underneath a powerful looking swoop bike.
  • Gavyn makes an observation about the work the Xexto is doing.
    • The Xexto, Freon Gasgano, is impressed by Gavyn’s knowledge.
    • The crew negotiate for the installation of a dorsal heavy laser turret as payment for carrying the Sicari.
    • The installation will take about two days.
  • Over the next two days:
    • Gavyn helps out with the installation of the turret.
    • Zed hangs out in the cantina. He finds out that:
      • there isn’t a criminal underworld to speak of on the station.
      • there has been an uptick in pirate activity in the sector.
    • Renaldo starts to meditate with the Sicari.
      • He finds out quite a bit about their belief in the Shadow Universe.
    • Su’shi sneaks into the monastery and starts re-arranging the landscape
      • The Arkhat makes a big show of frustration at the changes and loudly wonders who could be doing it.

Two days later…

  • The installation of the turret has been completed.
    • Zed is in the cantina.
    • Renaldo and Su’shi are at the monastery.
    • Gavyn is running an errand for Freon.
  • Freon comms the crew, stating that there friend has arrived, and he had let the friend aboard.
    • The crew ask if it was the Sicari.
    • Freon states it was an Arcona.
  • The crew bolt for the docking bay, and arrive at the door at the same time.
    • Looking into the bay, they see that the Tyche is starting to power up and would soon be able to take off.
    • Four rough looking figures (two Arcona, a Weequay and a Human) are loitering by the door of the bay.
  • Quick as flash, Zed draws his duelling pistol and shoots an Arcona between the eyes!
    • Gavyn bolts for the Tyche’s ramp, and starts to bypass the locked entry console.
    • Renaldo attempts to stun one of the other ruffians.
      • However, his blaster rifle is set to full power, and the Weeqauy is killed.
      • Shocked, Renaldo stumbles backwards and accidently crushes the remaining Arcona.
    • Zed shoots the Human pirate.
  • Having not learnt their lesson the first time, Su’shi and Renaldo attempt the Ewok Cannonball.
    • Renaldo’s arm is true, but Su’shi fails to stick the landing.
    • Unable to find purchase, Su’shi slowly slides down the sloped front of the Tyche, before landing next to Gavyn.
    • Freon, watching from the corner of the docking bay, holds up a card with each of his four primary arms – 3 4 3 1.
  • Gavyn unlocks the boarding ramp, draws his pistol and heroically charges up the ramp…. failing to notice the trip wire across the ramp.
    • The stun grenade goes off, rendering him deaf, blind and almost insensible.
  • Zed and Renaldo board the Tyche.
    • Zed pauses to slap some sense into Gavyn, while the Herglic heads towards the elevator to the upper deck.
  • With a lurch, the Tyche takes off, leaving Su’shi stranded on the deck.
    • Su’shi jumps for the ramp, but is unable to reach it.
    • Gavyn attempts to hoist the Ewok aboard, but is too woozy to do so.
  • The ship starts to move towards the vacuum sheild as Su’shi climbs up Gavyn’s arm and clambers aboard.
  • The elevator arrives, and the door opens with a ding, and then a bang as the stun grenade inside the lift goes off.
    • Renaldo shrugs off its effects and squeezes into the lift.
  • Reaching the upper deck, Renaldo finds an Arcona hunched over a datapad that is sliced into the Tyche’s helm.
    • Renaldo points his blaster rifle at the shipjacker.
    • The shipjacker doesn’t notice the enormous Herglic.
  • Renaldo coughs, and the Arcona looks up.
    • Upon noticing the blood covered Herglic, the Arcona surrenders.

S02E01 - THE FOUNDRY
"I'm gay - I was just so happy someone liked me."

At the behest of THE UNDERTAKER, the crew of the TYCHE are going to meet LASAT, the Bothan spy who provided the location of the blasters. The meet is at the FOUNDRY, SPACEPORT THREE’s hottest nightlcub, owned by Twi’lek DJ NAASAA VI.

What does LASAT have to say for himself?

Did he betray the crew?

Why was the REBEL ALLIANCE at the comet?

But first…. SHOPPING!

  • Concerned about the presence of the Rebel Alliance at the comet, the Undertaker asked the crew to meet with Lasat
    • The meet is that night at the Foundry.
    • The crew are to find out why the Rebel Alliance were at the comet. They are to lean on Lasat if necessary.
    • They have an encrypted credstick with Lasat’s payment.
  • But first…. SHOPPING!
    • The crew go to a large bazaar.
    • Captain Zed is wearing a terribly false moustache.
      • A trader sees this and sells him an excellent, genuine Wookie hair moustache with grooming kit for fifty credits.
      • This moustache is so good that, when Zed wears it, people tend to forget that Nautolans’ don’t have hair.
    • The crew find a good Bith armourer (stocks up to Rarity 5 items, both legal and illegal)
      • As per local regulations, most sidearms are legal. Civilian blaster rifles are legal, but military hardware and explosives are illegal for civilians.
    • Captain Zed slips a shopping list with a mix of illegal and legal weapons on it, along with 50 credits to the Bith.
      • The Bith fills the list as best he can from his shelf stock and “specialty” items ( a handful of grenades, some bandoleers).
    • Su’shi purchases a net gun, and a back pack to put it in. Both items are as big as the Ewok.
      • He is unable to get some chemical precursors thrown in.
    • Gavyn goes looking for components to convert his commlink into a hidden recording device.
      • He finds a junk store run by a pair of Ubese
      • He buys the components and a can of Booster Blue.
      • He makes the modifications to his commlink.
  • Shopping done, the crew go to the Foundry.
    • As they approach the line, the crew see a large black speeder flanked by a pair of swoops land on the rooftop pad.
    • The crew charm their way past the Barabel bouncer Sithka.
    • In the coat check, the crew surrender their weapons to the Twi’lek coat check. She looks exasperated at the sheer amount of firepower.
      • The coat check removes the power packs from the blasters and returns them (got to make sure the club looks dangerous).
      • Su’shi manages to smuggle his glass vials of neurotoxin past the second Barabel bouncer.
  • Once in the club, the crew spot a neck beardy Bothan at the end of the bar.
    • Captain Zed notices an attractive red-skinned female Togruta kiss the Bothan on the cheek and then leave the bar
    • Su’shi notices a Zygerrian, flanked by two heavies, enter the club on the mezzanine level. The Zygerrian is greeted warmly by Nissaa Vi.
    • Gavyn notices people around the sneakily swapping small opaque baggies for credsticks. He realises that the Foundry is a good place to score Glitterstim
  • The crew attempt to surreptitiously approach Lasat.
    • Su’shi and Gavyn succeed.
    • Zed roles both a Triumph and a Despair on his roll.
      • The Togruta notices someone approaching Lasat and leaves the club immediately (the Despair).
      • She does not get a good look at Zed’s features and wouldn’t recognise him if she saw him later (the Triumph).
  • Zed starts chatting with Lasat, who seems friendly.
    • Lasat explains that he hangs out in tapcaffs and bars, hacking insecure datapads for banking details and valuable information.
    • Anything he can’t action himself, he passes on to contacts like the Undertaker.
    • He attempts to demonstrate his abilities by hacking Gavyn’s datapad, but fails.
  • Lasat explains how he came across the information:
    • He hacked a datapad in a local tapcaff.
    • There was an email trail with a bunch of saucy images.
      • The images were of a human male, face visible, and a red skinned humanoid female, face obscured.
    • He downloaded the emails for later perusal, and noticed that the images were too large.
    • Examining the photos closely, he uncovered encrypted information:
      • The location of the blasters.
      • References to the establishment of “Rancor Base”.
      • ”Liberation has come to (system whose name I forget – Leighton?)”
    • He mentions that this was about a week and a half ago.
      • He also mentions that he started dating Ikuko about a week later and that they met in the same tapcaff.
    • Gavyn downloads the email conversation to his datapad.
  • Gavyn and Su’shi scan the bar for Ikuko
    • There is no sign of her (they feel confident she is no longer in the bar).
      • Su’shi notices that the Zygerrian is meeting with a Duros in a nice business suit. He points this out to Zed.
  • Zed grabs Lasat and they all make for the exit.
    • They grab their weapons.
    • They ask Sithka, who knows Ikuko, if she left.
      • The Barabel points down the street. The crew glimpse Ikuko disappearing around a corner, about a block (medium range) away.
  • Gavyn and Su’shi ran off after the Togruta
    • Zed pauses for a second, to ask Sithka who the Zygerian and the Duros were.
    • Sithka tells him to shut the hell up and stop asking dangerous questions.
    • Zed runs to catch up with the others, dragging Lasat along with him.
  • Using some good tradecraft and taking advantage of Su’shi’s small stature, the crew follow the mysterious Togruta.
    • She seen leaves the populated areas around Spaceport 3.
    • After walking for about an hour, she leaves an area of derelict factories and enters the slaglands.
  • Lasat sits in a gutter, dejected.
    • “The worst of it is, I’m gay – I was just so happy someone liked me.”
    • The crew call him a cab.
  • The crew pursue Ikuko through the slaglands.
    • They attempt to stealthily close the distance.
      • They fail, but Ikuko doesn’t know how many there are (failure with advantage), so she doesn’t confront them
    • Su’shi hears the very faint sounds of a ship landing.
  • The crew crest a rise.
    • They see a YT-2400 freighter that has obviously just landed
      • Gavyn notices that it is heavily modified to be as stealthy as possible.
    • The boarding ramp on the freighter lowers, and a human male steps out, followed by four heavily armed soldiers.
      • He would be the very handsome, except for a bandage above his left eye.
      • He’s the same human male from the emails.
  • The human male and Ikuko embrace and start talking quietly.
  • Suddenly, the Undertakers’ hearse arrives.
    • The Undertaker and the two Gamorrean grave diggers step out.
      • The Gamorreans unload the two crates of blasters from the back.
  • The Rebel Leader starts to get angry, holds up three fingers.
    • The rebels draw their weapons.
    • The Undertaker is confused.
  • The credstick drops:
    • Lasat got wind of the Rebel operation to recover the blasters.
    • He passed the info onto the Undertaker, who sent the crew to comet.
    • Ikuko, realising her datapad had been compromised, advised the Rebel Leader who mounted an operation to recover the blasters.
      • She also formed a relationship with Lasat, to determine the extent of the damage.
    • The crew essentially gatecrashed the Rebels salvage operation.

The Undertaker is now attempting to sell the blasters the crew stole, back to the Rebels they stole them from!

  • Su’shi attempts to sneak closer to the meeting, in case the shooting starts.
    • Ikoku calls out, saying she knew she was being followed.
    • Su’shi steps out into the light from the hearse
      • The Undertaker asks where the rest of crew is. Su’shi shrugs, looks adorable.
  • The Undertaker explains that it is all a misunderstanding.
    • The Rebel leader proposes that they call the blasters “A donation to the cause.”
    • The Undertaker successfully negotiates for half of the original price.
  • The Rebels board the freighter, which takes off and disappears into the night.
  • The crew reveal themselves.
    • The Undertaker sighs, and offers them a lift back to Spaceport 3
  • A couple of days later, the crew are lounging around the Tyche.
    • Gavyn is inspecting the repairs to the Port Stabiliser
    • Su’shi is combing the seat covers.
    • Renaldo is still sleeping.
    • Captain Zed is lounging on the cargo ramp.
  • A large cargo speeder enters the docking bay.
    • Sithka and a pair of Arcona dismount.
      • The Arcona have the gold eyes and listless movements of salt addicts.
    • The Arcona start to load four large crates (25 encumbrance total) into the hold.
  • Sithka hands Captain Zed a flight plan.
    • The crew are to deliver the cargo to Bacrana.
    • The cargo has already been cleared by customs.
  • Without another word, Sithka and the Arcona board the speeder and leave.
  • As the speeder leaves, Lt. Bisbcox and his stormtroopers enter the bay.
    • Captain Zed makes a smartarse comment.
    • A stormtrooper knocks him down.
  • Lt. Bisbcox scans the hold.
    • His scanner goes wild when he points it at the crates.
    • He opens the crate.

The crate is full of thousands of bags of Glitterstim!

S01E01 - A JOB OF ICE & FIRE
"Boulder. Boulder! BOULDER!" CRUNCH "Sigh."

The crew of the Tyche have been hired to recover a shipment of blaster rifles, lost during the Clone Wars, by the being known only as “the Undertaker”

They’ve tracked the shipment to the wrecked hulk of an old freighter, embedded in the ice of a comet – a comet diving into the heart of an uncharted sun.

Will the crew recover the rifles before the comet breaks apart, or will they meet a fiery end?

The Tyche closes on the comet, space dust scraping on the shields. Captain Zed is at the controls, with Gavyn Fre’way in the co-pilots chair. Renaldo is knocking on the door of the janitors closet that doubles as Su’shi’s bunk/mad science lab.

META: With adventure logs, I’m just going to write a super barebones summary of each session so we know where things stand. Feel free to embellish or add to it, or to write your own.

  • The Tyche closes on the comet.
    • Captain Zed fails to notice an enormous boulder that scrapes down the side of the ship.
    • Renaldo catches Su’shi, saving him from a nasty concussion.
    • Gavyn successfully scans for both the crashed freighter and a safe landing site (a triumph).
    • The freighter has no power and no life signs.
  • The crew leaves the Tyche.
    • They are wearing the nice shiny space suits, that Captain Zed sprung, for the last time they were on a civilised planet (a Force point)
    • The gravity on the comet is extremely low – this makes some things very easy, and other things much harder.
  • They reach the wrecked freighter.
    • It juts out of the comet at a 45 degree angle.
    • The stern has been shorn off and is open to space.
    • There is a hatch at ‘ground level’.
  • Renaldo ties a rope around Su’shi’s waist and throws the Ewok up towards the open stern of the freighter.
    • Rather than kicking off from a spar, as planned, and shooting down into the freighter’s hold, Su’shi instead smashes into the spar headfirst (taking strain).
  • Su’shi looks down the hold of the freighter (essentially a open ended cylinder).
    • The hold is extremely well lit by the nearby sun (Advantages).
    • Thanks to the recent knock on the head, Su’shi fails to notice a CR90 corvette keeping station on the other side of the comet (a despair)
    • There are signs of an enormous explosion (there is a scorched fragment of metal which has Warning: Thermal Detonators printed on it.
    • There are three coffin sized crates resting against the floor about half way along the hold.
  • Su’shi unties the rope and starts to float gently down the hold, signalling the all clear using his communicator.
  • Renaldo pries open the door and the rest of the crew walk through a darkened corridor into the hold.
  • When Su’shi is about half way to the crates, a voice transmits over an open comms channel, telling the crew to hold it right there.
    • A space suited figure is heroically backlit in the opening of the hold.
    • Captain Zed tries to strike an equally heroic pose. He fails.
    • It is medium range from Su’shi & long range from the rest of crew.
  • The figure states it is here to recover the blasters for the Rebel Alliance, and that it would be good for the crew if they just handed over the blasters.
    • The crew negotiate to split the blasters 50/50.
    • Su’shi is to halt his descent near the blasters, and one of the Rebel soldiers will come down the hold to split up the third crate.
  • Gavyn notices that the hold is divided into thirds by emergency bulk heads, that can be closed by mechanical levers (they do not need power to work).
    • Conveniently, there is one bulkhead door between the blasters and the rebels.
  • The crew get greedy and everything goes to shit.
    • Su’shi goes for the lever, and gets it half way pulled, partially closing the bulkhead.
    • The Rebel leader heroically dives down the hold, blaster pistol in each hand – he gets shot. A lot.
    • The crew manage to close the bulkhead.
    • Before it closes, they see one of the Rebel soldiers rescue the fallen figure of the Rebel leader and a large ship nose into view at the end of the hold.
  • The crew grab the crates
    • In normal gravity, they would weigh several hundred kilos. On the comet, Captain Zed can carry one, and Renaldo carries the other two.
  • The crew run out the hatch, as the wreck explodes behind them.
    • Renaldo is unmoved by the blast. Gavyn and Su’shi successfully tuck, duck and roll. Capatin Zed is knocked flying and drops his crate.
    • There is a Correllian CR90 Corvette floating in space above them.
  • The crew run for the lives, across a comet that is now breaking apart!
    • Su’shi and Renaldo successfully leap across to the piece of comet the Tyche is attached to.
    • Gavyn and Captain Zed go flying off in space – fortunately Renaldo catches them.
  • The crew stumble aboard the Tyche, dropping the suddenly heavy crates to the deck.
    • Gavyn, slightly ahead of the rest of them, powers up the ship and takes off.
  • The CR90 is rounding the bulk of the disintegrating asteroid.
    • Gavyn punches it, but not before the corvette’s main turbolaser battery blows off the portside vertical stabiliser (10 points of damage).
  • After 20 hours in hyperspace, the Tyche limps into Spaceport 3.
    • Gavyn repairs 2 points of damage while in transit, and restores the system strain incurred.
    • The crew recover all their strain and wounds.
  • The ship lands, and is greeted by an Imperial Customs lieutenant, Lt. Bisbcox and a squad of storm troopers.
    • Bisbcox is well aware of Captain Zed’s notoriety and is suspicious.
    • Captain Zed states that they’ve landed to sample the local seafood.
    • A stormtrooper hits him, and Lt Bisbcox sweeps into the hold.
    • He remarks that HWK-290 light freighters don’t normally have a two decks (HWK-1000 freighters are a restricted design).
    • Gavyn says the ship was modified on Sullust. Lt. Bisbcox is sceptical, but appears to buy this explanation.
  • Lt. Bisbcox scans the hold. He pulls aside a tarpaulin with a flourish – to find nothing but a collection of swoop parts.
    • A flashback reveals that the crew and dropped the two crates into the sea while approaching the spaceport, to be picked up by the Gravediggers.
  • Lt Bisbcox leaves, but not before the Stormtroopers hit Zed a few more times.
  • Captain Zed stays with the ship, while the rest of the crew go to the funeral home to meet The Undertaker.
    • They arrive during the funeral of an Arcona salt addict. No one else is there except for an Arcona poet giving a reading.
    • It appears that the Undertaker has paid for the funeral out of his own pocket.
  • The crew tells the Undertaker what happened.
    • The Undertaker expresses concern about the presence of the Rebels.
    • He is concerned that Lasat may have tipped off the Rebels.
    • He asks the crew to meet with Lasat that night at the nightclub known as the Foundry and ask for his side of the story.
  • The crew get their pay out for the job. It is enough to pay to repair the ship, and 5000 credits beside (1000 credits each, plus 1000 to the ships kitty).
